Hipster Presets - by me.

I’ve launched a preset pack and an online store called Hipster Presets! This is such an exciting new venture for me as I work toward making content creation in the field of Photography my primary source of income to support my family!

A Little Background

I love digital photography for the editing process, but I love film photography for the aesthetic and process. I can get a similar process from digital photography by shooting manual and with prime lenses, but to get the aesthetic I was looking for, I needed to learn how to edit and process those digital images.

I (and my wife) have purchased many overpriced and ineffective preset packs for Lightroom. Digging into them, I saw several glaringly obvious flaw with nearly all of them:

  1. Unless you are shooting in the same condition as their sample images, it is really difficult (if not impossible) to get the same result.

  2. They include little (usually zero) explanations or tutorials

  3. 90% of the presets completely change the nature of your photo and turn them into an overly saturated overly contrasty mess

The Solution

Make my own presets.

Why?

The benefit of presets is a consistent color grade and style. Images (despite the content) are tied together by look and feel. This will help you develop a “look” and might even increase the effectiveness of your portfolio no matter what camera or format you are shooting at the time.

All the Other YouTubers Do It!

It’s true. Click on the description box of nearly any digital photographer’s video and there will be a “Purchase my Preset Pack” link somewhere in there. It’s a super easy way to ask for help supporting the work that we are doing and you get something out of it!

What Makes Hipster Presets Different?

My ultimate goal with my presets is to make them work well with any system, and condition, and any style. How? Well, there’s a bit of a secret formula involved, but to give you the summary, they do nothing to alter the inherent nature of the image. They enhance the style and color by balancing colors and emphasizing micro contrasts.

Check them out for yourself!

As always, I very much appreciate your support even if it’s just to visit the website and click around! And if you make a purchase, let me know what you think of them! I’d love feedback and how to make them even better!
